What will you be doing?

The Strategic Insights Consultant is Circana’s leading Complete Consumer advisor across our consumer and ecomm porfolio. Working closely with CSI leadership and in partnership with Circana Thought Leadership advisors, this role will have hands-on responsibility to deliver commercially relevant and incisive strategic insights. Analytically rigorous, self-motivated, intellectually and strategically courageous, candidates will find a fertile opportunity to excel functionally and develop professionally at senior levels. They will need a robust FMCG, GM or Retail background to influence strategy at these levels. Direct exposure to clients, business media and Circana’s leadership will provide opportunities for career development, wider industry recognition and commercial influence.

Job Responsibilities

Develop a thought leadership framework including a pipeline of topics and events based on relevant industries trends that deliver client impact; Showcase Circana’s premier place as the experts of consumer insights.
Work closely with Marketing to activate plan and ways to best amplify thought leadership presence.
Partner with senior leaders in Thought Leadership to ensure plans and focus work in conjunction across Circana; while Complete Consumer is this role’s focus, any work should be within the Thought Leadership principles used throughout the organization.
Critically evaluate business questions based using a strong grasp of FMCG and Retail category trends, proactively develop briefs that enhance Circana’s Complete Consumer presence.
Deliver analytically rigorous and commercially incisive insights that are strategically valuable and implementable by Circana’s clients.
Deliver independent and sometimes provocative points of view and true thought leadership to commercialise growth opportunities for Complete Consumer
Synthesize multi-market or multi-category insights; Interpret data and trends in a commercial context and provide critically reasoned recommendations using Circana’s extensive data and technology assets.
Codify best practices in strategic insights development. Build better practices grounded in the latest methods, processes and the application of Circana’s data & technology and people to business questions.
Enhance internal skills development, mentoring and opportunity to co-develop a positive, high-performance team of insights managers within CSI & E-comm team as well as across Circana.


Expert in consumer data, particularly with longitudinal panels
High proficiency with survey data including questionnaire and analysis.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Retail, FMCG, Research agency or Consulting (Marketing and Sales) background.
Commercial experience, with track record of working with clients to activate insights.

Demonstrable Skills

Research Data-analysis and insights development contributing to marketing strategy,
Structured evaluation receipt, scan and other consumer data sources; Meta-analysis across studies
Advanced use of quantitative and qualitative research methods
Advanced use of quantitative databases and Excel; high familiarity with retail databases
Holding strategic dialogue with senior directors and executives with confidence
Strong presentation development and communication skills; crafts messages
Report and Whitepaper writing; Key messaging, storytelling, visualising data, multimedia
Project Management in fast-moving matrix environments

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is [$110K to $175K].
